Setting Up the Nitro WooCommerce Theme

Note: Before installing Nitro, you need to install the WooCommerce plugin.

Here’s how to install and activate the Nitro WooCommerce theme:

1. After purchasing Nitro, download the Nitro files to your computer through the Downloads tab on ThemeForest.

2. In WordPress, go to Appearance… Themes… Add New… Upload Theme… Choose File.

3. Locate the downloaded zip file from ThemeForest and click the Choose button. Click Install Now.

The zip file should look something like: wr-nitro-install.zip

4. After the theme is installed, click Activate.

After Nitro is activated, you’ll be redirected to its Welcome screen.

Using the Nitro WooCommerce Theme

To get up and running with Nitro, you’ll want to go to its Welcome screen. You can do this by clicking Nitro from within the WordPress admin sidebar.

On Nitro’s Welcome page, you’ll see tabs for:

Product Registration (for validating your purchase—needed for premium support and automatic updates)

Sample Data (for importing demo content)

Plugins (for installing/uninstalling WooRockets and third-party plugins)

Support (for access to all Nitro support materials)

1. Under the Product Registration tab, enter your name, email, and your purchase code from ThemeForest. Then, click the Validate button.

Validation of the purchase code is needed to receive premium support and automatic free lifetime theme updates. The purchase code is available from the license certificate text file from ThemeForest.

2. Once you validate your purchase, from the Sample Data tab, you can choose to import any of the premade niche demos that come with Nitro.

You can either choose to import the Main Demo content or choose from their niche selection under Get started with premade samples.

You can easily view any demo content by clicking on the image thumbnail representing the demo niche you want to see. Then, you can import the niche content into your WordPress site by clicking on the blue Install button.

If you decide the niche you imported is not what you want, you can easily remove the sample data by clicking the blue Uninstall button. If you’ve ever experienced the pain of having to manually remove imported demo content, you know how valuable this feature is.

To start customizing imported content, click the blue Customize Your Site button. This will allow you to make changes to your site through Nitro’s Customizer.

3. If needed, go to the Plugins tab to install (or uninstall) any recommended plugins. Plugins that are required for Nitro are marked with a red “Required” banner.

Click on Install All Recommended Plugins to bulk install the plugins needed for Nitro.

Note: Installing the Main Demo content automatically installs all required plugins for the Nitro theme.

4. To view Nitro’s documentation, click the Support tab on the Welcome page. There you’ll find the online user guide for Nitro and a Request Support link for one-on-one chat support. WooRockets plans on adding video tutorials in the future.

5. As with all themes, you add new pages to Nitro by going to Pages… Add New. However, with the Nitro theme you have the ability to work in either the default WordPress editor (Classic Mode), or with Visual Composer’s drag-and-drop editor through the Backend Editor. Nitro gives you the same options in the WordPress post editor.

The Nitro WooCommerce Theme comes with a huge number of features and options for WordPress shop owners, especially when you consider the free addition of impressive third-party plugins such as Virtual Composer, Slider Revolution, Ninja Popups, and others. Below we’ll touch the “tip of the iceberg” and briefly touch on a few other features that come with the theme.

Nitro Live Customizer

Nitro comes with a very impressive Customizer. It allows you to preview changes you make to your site before having to publish them, making for much faster site building.

Through the Customizer, you can configure most of the global settings for the theme. To get to the Customizer, just go to Appearance… Customize.

Also, when viewing site pages from the frontend when logged in, you can get to the Customizer by clicking on the Customize button that appears at the top of a page or post. In this way, you can easily edit specific pages in the Customizer.

In the Nitro Customizer, you can configure settings for:

General (site identity, social, page loading effects, widget styles, pagination style, back to top button)

Layout (content width, page title, buttons, boxed layout)

Typography (body and heading text styles, page titles, buttons, quotes)

Color (general color, page title color, button color, background colors)

Header (default header and individual page headers)

WooCommerce (general settings, product categories, product details, cart page, checkout page, thank you page)

Blog (settings for blog lists and single posts)

Pages (standard page, 404 page)

Gallery (settings for archive and single galleries)

Footer (width, sidebar layout and content, copyright text)

System (front page displays, custom CSS and JavaScript, right-to-left, maintenance mode, enable expert mode, etc.)

Menus (menu locations, advanced settings)

Sidebar (sidebars for pages, blog, footer, eCommerce pages, mobile layouts)

Widgets (add and manage all site widgets)

Product Layout Builder

As discussed before, with the addition of the Visual Composer plugin, you have the option to make changes to Nitro content through a visual drag-and-drop page builder. This can be done in both the native WordPress page and post editors.

With the click of a button, Nitro also allows you to access the features of Visual Composer in the WooCommerce product pages. To do that, simply go to Products… Products (or Add Products), and click on Enable Product Builder under the Product Settings section.

Once this feature is turned on, you can easily customize your product detail pages with whatever elements you wish (e.g., imagery, videos, audio, etc.). However, you can only customize the bottom layout area (below the main product details) with the elements you add here. If you need to edit the entire layout, you can do so through the Customizer.

Header Builder

Header Builder is a built-in plugin for Nitro that’s made by WooRockets. It provides a clean and intuitive drag-and-drop editor for building your own custom headers. With Header Builder, you can set a default header for your pages or choose specific headers for individual pages.

1. To access Header Builder, go to Nitro… Header Builder from the WordPress admin sidebar.

2. Choose between a Horizontal Layout or a Vertical Layout for your header.

3. Enter a title for the header.

4. Choose between Create a Blank Header or Choose Template.

When starting with a blank header, you’re essentially starting with a “blank canvas” and can add different elements to your header, including:

Search
Menu
Sidebar
Text
Logo
Socials
Cart
Wishlist
Flex (for spacing)

Clicking Choose Template will show you different header template preview images. Choose one of the premade templates by clicking on Install This Header. You can make any changes to the templates you wish.

Whether you choose Create a Blank Header or Choose Template, you can change the position of any elements by dragging and dropping. You can also configure the settings of any element by clicking on it, as well as choose how your headers look on mobile devices.

Nitro Elements (Shortcodes)

Nitro Elements are part of the over 80 elements (shortcodes) that come with the Nitro theme.

1. To access all the elements that come with Nitro, go to the WordPress page or post editor and click on Backend Editor.

This will put the page or post editor into Visual Composer mode, and give you the following options:

Add Element
Add Text Block
Add Template

2. Click Add Element to choose from over 80 content elements for your page or post.

Nitro Elements include:

Nitro Custom Heading
Social Icons
Counter Up
Nitro Carousel
Countdown
Separator
List
Google Maps
Masonry Layout
Spotlight (animated image banners)
Icon Box
Timeline
Subscription Form (email subscription form)
Nitro Button
Nitro Gallery (for product images)

Pricing Table
Blog Post
Drop Caps
Video

3. By the way, clicking Add Template allows you to choose between previously saved content/layout templates you created or premade templates that come with Nitro.

Page Options

Nitro provides a number of settings for customizing individual pages.

1. To access these options, open a page you wish to edit and go to the Page Options section of the WordPress page editor.

2. In the Page Options section, turn off the default setting of Use Global Settings.

Now you’ll see three tabs for customizing the page:

General
Page Title
Page Content

Here’s some of your customization options:

Content width
Page header
Background colors
Background image
Boxed layout
Page title width and layout
Breadcrumbs
Page description and style
Heading style
Link color
Parallax effects
Sidebar layout

Note: Global settings for Nitro are configured in the Nitro Customizer at Appearance…Customize…Pages.

Nitro Support & Documentation

Customer reviews and personal experience show the support team behind Nitro to be very responsive and helpful.

Indeed, after a plugin update, I ran across an issue with my homepage and needed to contact their support team. By clicking the Support tab from the Welcome page, I was able to use their online chat system and talk with customer support within seconds. They immediately assigned my problem to one of their developers and I was able to get my problem solved in about an hour’s time.

Obviously, I was very impressed with that level of support. In my experience, chat systems are very rare for WordPress plugin and theme developers. Having that level of support—with such quick response time—is critical to the success of any product and is a huge bonus as a customer.

When it comes to many products and services around WordPress, there’s an enormous amount of competition. And when it comes down to choosing one product over another, superior product support can definitely tip the scales in favor of one company over another.

Besides a chat system, WooRockets offers extensive documentation for Nitro from the same Support tab.

I’m also impressed with how the team behind Nitro seems so open to feedback and suggested features for future updates. Even users who choose not to pay for extended support for Nitro still get access to their online and offline documentation, and can give their input on new product features.

As of this writing, Nitro has an average support score of 4.9/5 at ThemeForest.

Support for third-party plugins that come with the Nitro theme are not included in the theme’s price. Third-party plugin documentation can be found from the plugin developer’s website.

Pricing for Nitro WooCommerce Theme

You can purchase Nitro at ThemeForest. The cost for a regular license is $59.

Each purchase includes six months of support and access to all future updates. Support can be extended to 12 months for an additional $17.63.

When considering all the features and functionality that come with Nitro, including about $150 of premium plugins that come with the theme, in my opinion the $59 price tag is a very fair price that’s well worth considering.

Conclusions & Recommendations

WooRockets is a team that focus on eCommerce and the needs of its end users. With Nitro, their aim is to help online shop owners sell more products and services through an intuitive, conversion-focused theme based on WordPress and WooCommerce.

Nitro is a fast loading eCommerce solution that provides a large number of demo niche sites and an impressive feature set for easy customization. I especially like how the developers put so many customization options within the live Customizer. Being able to instantly see changes without first publishing can save users a great deal of time.

Whether it’s the homepage, category pages, or product pages, I like how Nitro’s minimal design puts the focus on accessibility to product information, making it easy for customers to find what they’re looking for, and increasing conversions.

And a thumbs up for their responsive chat support system and openness to customer feature suggestions and feedback. Without customer support, products and services can be worthless—so the team at WooRockets scores big here.

In the end, after taking Nitro for a spin, I came away impressed with its feature set, customization options, and potential universal appeal to a wide variety of shop owners.

If you’re a WordPress user who’s in the market for a new ecommerce platform, my recommendation is to give Nitro a test drive. You can find out more about the Nitro WooCommerce WordPress theme here.
